Bonus lesson 1: Tofu dishes

Koreans love to cook with tofu. Tofu is a popular ingredient for soups ("chigae" or "gook"). Tofu can be a dish ( or a side dish) on its own. Tofu is first pan fried and further cooked with Kimchi (Kimchi fried tofu) or can be dressed with a simple soy sauce based garnish. In this lesson, I will show you how to pan fry tofu and create a very simply but flavorful sauce/garnish---all in the same pan!
Ingredients:
tofu (1 pound block, cut into 2 inch by 2 inch by 1/2 inch pieces: total 12 pieces),
homemade teriyaki sauce, 1 TB), green onions (about 1 stem, finely chopped), sesame oil (3 drops), "gochugaru"(Korean red pepper flakes)
Steps:
1. Pat
dry tofu and cut into 12 pieces (rectangular shapes)
2. Lightly salt tofu on one side only
3: Heat
a nonstick pan on med heat, add oil when hot, add tofu with salted side on the pan.

4: When tofu has turned golden brown, flip. Cook for another 2 min.
5: Make a simple sauce directly in the pan by adding the following: homemade teriyaki homemade teriyaki sauce,
sesame oil, green onions, and "gochugaru".
6: Add some water to thin out the sauce, cover and remove pan from heat. Let it sit for about 5-10 min for flavors to develop.

7. Spoon sauce on each tofu piece.

Enjoy with rice or any vegetable dishes as a light but nutritious meal!
